SAFW SS18 - AN EXCLUSIVE WOOLWORTHS CAPSULE COLLECTION BY | SOUTH AFRICA DESIGNERS
Day 1 of South African Fashion Week Spring / Summer collection kicked off with the Woolworths capsule showing the works of their own such as Rich Mnisi, Wanda Lephoto, Sindiso Khumalo and Thebe Magugu.
Pre-entertainment held the crowd captivated with the sugar high from meringue pop up candy hub from Wollies, the gourmet finger foods, the refreshing drinks from the Cruz bar and the hub of vibe.
The show started off with an elegant warmth, relating a minimalists' day in a busy Joburg city, courtesy of Thebe Magugu, with just enough colour to set them apart. Rich Mnisi dazzled us with a collection that embodied the concept of deconstructed fashion and visualized the fusion of the modern, contemporary African. The use of textiles charmed with the way it paralleled with a distinctive use of colour in the designs of Sindiso Khumalo. Wanda Lephoto set himself apart with his men's collection that illustrated a variety of apparel that played on the personification of masculinity and introduced the concept of gender neutrality across the entire show.
The collection finale included a summary of the designer's individual statements of the common Afro Parisian under-over stated elegance.
